What. A. Whirlwind! 🤩 24th November 2022 was one of the best days I’ve had as a small business owner and I’m still processing it all 😅 The legendary Holly Tucker MBE (@hollytucker), founder of 'Not on the High Street' and 'Holly & Co' (@holly.co) invited me to co-host an incredible small business community meet up in Norwich, and it was BLOODY BRILLIANT!
I first spotted her amazing coat emblazoned with ‘Flying the flag for small business’ on the back wandering the streets of Norwich, and she was immediately SO LOVELY and warm the moment you meet her!! 🥰
We started the day with the lovely Kayleigh Poacher on BBC Radio Norfolk to chat about #ColourFriday , which is a movement started by Holly & Co, encouraging us to break the mould of mindlessly spending with big corporations on Black Friday, and instead 'Voting with your money' to buy from the small independent businesses that truly need our support at the moment, and that make our retail landscape so diverse and interesting.
After our radio feature, we headed over to the @the_yard_coffee (who were absolutely fantastic hosts and provided us with a gorgeous, bright, plant filled space for the event. If you haven't been in for a coffee, it's a must stop in Norwich!)
There was an incredible turn out of about 100 local small business founders there - lots of friendly faces and lots of new faces to put to business names - it was so lovely to meet everyone and feel the hype in the room!
Holly gave us all such a brilliant motivational speech with advice and things she’s learnt in her 20 years in business, before I had to get over my nerves and join her on stage to ask her some questions - the answers to which were really inspiring, helpful and raised so many great points that I know I will definitely be trying to implement in Crumpetorium 😍
She then delved into the crowd for more Q&As, followed by book signings and generously gifting us all with a copy of her book, ‘Do what you love, love what you do’. 💜
The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing and I think Holly’s talk truly gave all of us founders a new lease of life in this tricky climate, to go out there and keep smashing it with our fantastic businesses! So much talent in one room it was actually hard to get my head around! 🤯
Big shout out to the @holly.co team of superstars that made everything run so smoothly too! Such a lovely bunch of people honestly- #iwannabeintheirgang 😂
